Diet Double Berry Muffins Recipe brought to you by Diet Recipes To-Go
Types of dietThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet primarily detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a fat reduction diet, however many zone diet followers believe that they really reduce body weight by following the zone diet. The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can control the secretion of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts the body in a state of balance which is an awful lot more healthy than normal, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears believes that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is much more efficient and, because of this, does not build up fat. The main technique of the zone system is to keep tight control over the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi index diet is based on the gi index, a chart showing food types and an indicator of the ease with which the glucose and energy in the food gets transformed to sugar in your system. The claim is that slow acting food types (ie those food types with a low Gi score), suppress your appetite for longer and help to cut down on food without feeling you are missing out. It's also very beneficial for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI types of food are helpful in minimizing rises in glucose secretion. The Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Although highly controversial, it supposedly allows weight loss but still allows you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example bacon and butter. On the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The logic of the popular atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to transform into glucose and energy, it is the carbohydrates which are burned primarily. If we reduce your intake of carbohydrates, we will deplete the fat we already carry and we will reduce weight. This is the bit that is controversial, not all experts concur and some experts hold that it can be hazardous. |
