The low-cal diet
In short, low calorie diet is based on the fact that if you are going to achieve weight loss, the most important step is to eat fewer calories than your body normally needs. Definition of a calorie? The calorie is the unit used for measuring the amount of energy in food. A food calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise one cubic centimeter of water by one degree centigrade. If a food type contains more calories, then it will will give you a larger amount of energy when your body burns it. Low calorie food types include green beans, cabbage, grapefruit, ground turkey, and bamboo shoots. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet initially suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not distinctly a fat reduction diet, however some people discover that they actually lose a few pounds by following this system. The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you gain control of the secretion of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts one's body in a balanced state which is an awful lot more wholesome than it normally is, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears alleges that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its most efficient and, as a result, doesn't build up fat. The most valuable technique of the diet is to control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. Foods high in flavonoids (inlcudes olive oil, red apples, scarlet runner bean and basil) The nutrients known as flavonoids which exist in these fruit and vegetables are believed to be good in fighting cancer. Researchers studying the effects of flavonoids think that they may also have many health benefits, including, but not limited to, anti-asthma and anti-inflammatory powers. Most are low in calories, so you should add them to your diet. |
